Future of concept design?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Presenting a new concept has met some difficult challenges in recent years primarily because it takes time to draw out the details. Now consider this 1% crossover ( wow? ).

Imagine being able to hand draw what you want, provide a brief description, and WHAMO! You get a concept to screen in 30 seconds. Think it’s impossible? Well, according to a group of students in China, a project labeled Sketch2photo is in the works.

Great idea, yet, I’m not too thrilled about the Sketch2photo brand name.

NO I can’t hear you…

Friday, October 9th, 2009

In two short years Verizon’s “can you hear me now” campaign was responsible for helping the company gain market share and reduce customer turnover. Net customers grew 10% to 32.5 million in 2002 vs. 2001 and 15% or 37.5 million in 2003. Customer turnover, a major expense called “churning” was down 30%.

The message here is “nationwide coverage.”

Humor goes a long way even when service falls a little short. You know there’s effective marketing in play when everyone is singing your trademark and angry customers are laughing. WOWtastic Verizon!

Possibly one of the most memorable commercial of all time

Friday, October 9th, 2009

I was 7 years old when this 1% crossover commercial debut. Perhaps what makes it so memorable is the unimagineable humor that nice old ladies, too, can become angry when misled.
